LAVANDERIA PAJUBÁ

A group composed by five LGBTQ+ activists share the management of a popular laundry in the most crowded street on Brás, central region of São Paulo. All of them together affirm the gender variety in the current and existent indentity struggle. Besides offering laundry service, the place also offers sewing services, repairs service, it owns a thrift store and has a different and unexpected photo studio. The low prices combined with the fun and political performances attract a diverse and quite original audience. However, the place is constantly under threat from right-wing extremists and has been the target of several attacks. The tension increases as the "sisters" decide to carry out an artistic action that raises awareness about the public issue of the execution of great Brazilian political leaders in the last 40 years.

Screenplay and Direction  Eliane Caffé

Eliane Caffé graduated in psychology and began her career in cinema in 1990, with the short films "Arabesco" and "Caligrama". Then she directed the feature films, "Kenoma," "Storytellers," "The Midday Sun," and "It Was the Cambridge Hotel"; all with important awards from critics and national and international Festivals and Shows. She also directed TV series and documentaries. Parallel to the cinema, the director is dedicated to the coordination of audiovisual workshops in conflict zones in the city of São Paulo and also in the interior of Brazil.
