In his day, most women lived as a mere shadow of men. She, however, ignored this custom and many others. When she met the great love of her life, D Pedro II, the countess surprised everyone around her. Even married to a French nobleman, she established a decades-long relationship with the emperor. Taking advantage of the proximity to the monarch he sent and disbanded in the Court, attracting envy and anger. It has brought forward progressive ideas from Europe such as Abolition and compulsory female education. 

Historiography has left this fundamental figure of our history in the shadows.

Beto Amaral - Among other projects, Beto Amaral produced Heatstroke which debuted at the Venice Film Festival in 2009. He co-wrote and produced Vazante that opened the Panorama section at the Berlinale 2017. He wrote the additional dialogue and produced the film The Banquet, which will premiering in the second half of 2018. He co-directs the documentary Mantega with Daniela Thomas and Sandra Corveloni who is in post-production. He created, produced and is co-writing the Lost Steps series.

Mary Del Priore - With more than twenty national and international literary awards, including three Jabutis, Mary Del Priore has specialized in topics of society such as: women, family and child history. History of sexuality. History of the Brazilian Imperial Family. History of intolerance, racism and homophobia. History of consumption and transformations of intimacy.
